In these days of fast food and quick fixes, it really is not that difficult to stand out from the crowd. Just put a little effort, creativity and imagination into your business and you will be happily remembered and rewarded.

One way of doing this is by using some card making ideas for your mail outs to clients, customers and business associates. It could be as simple as hand writing a pretty colored envelope and attaching a lovely sticker. It could be sending out postcards print ed from your computer and then hand stamped to add color and dimension. Of course purchasing some lovely postage stamps to complement the look makes a nice touch and the recipient will be sure to actually read it instead of tossing it in the trash along with their other boring offerings.

When we can see that someone has actually taken some time to do something out of the ordinary it does command more of our attention.

Card make ideas are everywhere. Just adding a simple personal touch to a letter or card doesn’t have to take up much time but the results may surprise you. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Send a handmade card to your most valued clients to let them know how much you appreciate them.
  • Create a little piece of art to send to your best customers on their birthdays. They will be overjoyed that you remembered.
  • Add flourishing to your envelopes for your regular business mail outs. You will stand out from the crowd.

I have a very deep drawer filled with business offers / mailings that I have received over the years which have given me hundreds of card making ideas for my own clients and customers. It might be a good idea for you to start collecting those things that touch your heart as well.

So pay attention and give attention to how you could uplift someone in your business today by putting something beautiful out into the world.

Many years ago a friend of mine received an award of recognition. It was a great honor to be recognized in this way and I wanted to acknowledge it with a very special card.

I searched and searched through numerous shops and specialty stores for just the right card that would say just the right thing, but nothing seemed to feel just right.

The usual congratulations cards didn’t convey exactly what I wanted to say, so I decided to make my own.

That was the beginning of my love affair with paper crafts and card making. Since then, I have amassed an entire library of magazines and books and all things related to card making ideas.

I have spent countless Saturday mornings and hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, visiting all the local crafts stores shopping for more card making ideas and for what has become the makings of my own studio. A studio filled with card stock, stickers, embellishments, pens, pencils, stamps, ink, ribbons, specialty papers, brads and on and on and on. And of course all of the various necessary and unnecessary but fun, tools of the trade.

In other words, I am hooked on card making and card making ideas and I really enjoy it.

Since I am an inspirational writer, card making for me has been a form of connection with others, a way to uplift and inspire one person at a time, with one little piece of art at a time, in the form of a handmade card.

What could be more wonderful than opening your mail box to find a beautiful hand painted or colorful envelope inside. And in this age of email and teleconferencing, how truly rare that is becoming.

So, perhaps the next time you are looking for just the right card, for just the right occasion, for just the right person, and you can’t seem to find it, you too will consider creating your own and enter into a whole new world of imagination and creativity that will uplift and benefit so many others in the process.

What could be more wonderful than opening your mail box to find a beautiful hand painted or colorful envelope inside. And in this age of email and teleconferencing, how truly rare that is becoming. Technology is a good thing. We have made some incredible advancements but I do believe that we are missing the physical joys that really make life worth while, the little things to savor and delight our senses. Whenever I receive one of these treasures in the mail, I make myself a cup of tea and take some quiet time to fully appreciate this lovely miniature work of art. It comforts me to know that someone has taken the time to create this just for me. While holding this gift in my hand, I can actually feel the energy and the love from that person.

I have always loved giving and receiving handmade cards and I am constantly on the lookout for the latest book or magazine about card making ideas. Over the years I have compiled several binders full of card making ideas using various media such as photographs, paint, calligraphy, stamping, fabrics, sealing wax, ribbon, buttons etc.

Making cards is a lovely way to keep in touch with friends, family and even business associates. I have always detested the boring, lifeless promotional mail that appears almost daily in my in box. As a result, I was determined to make my business mail outs as personal, unique and beautiful as possible. I remember one September sending out handmade cards to my clients made of Fall fabric die cuts and velum inserts. The response was amazing and my business flourished as a result. My customers responded to that attention to detail and genuine caring.

Another Christmas I sent out Christmas pop up trees and metallic tree inserts as my xmas offering. Several clients have kept these over the years and take them out again each Christmas to delight in. It became fun to add my latest design to my already growing list of card making ideas. One is only limited by their imagination and creativity.

So what little piece of heaven will you create to paint our world more beautiful today?

I’m out of ideas.  I want to make a fun homemade card for my dads birthday.  Just simple and not decked out. I really dont have any great ideas. I’ve done so many things in the past for his birthday and I feel like I’ve done everything I can think of. If you have any awesome ideas that I can easily do without buying stuff from the store, that most of us probably already have in the house, then that would be great.

You can uncover some inspiring card making ideas by just taking a look at what is happening in your own life right now. Is someone you know going through a difficult time and you would like to cheer them up. Do they love roses? Well, a simple picture of roses from your garden mounted on some contrasting card stock, embellished with ribbon or whatever you have available around your home, along with a heartfelt note would be so welcomed by them right now.

The wonder of creating handmade cards is that you can personalize them, from whimsical and cheery to sophisticated or spiritual. You can create something that suits the individual’s personality and life style.

You can also create a beautiful handmade card to simply showcase a favorite inspirational quotation, one that really touches and inspires you. Chances are that it will uplift your recipient as well and make their day. Once you get started making your own cards, you will be hooked and more and more creative card making ideas will surface from within you.

I once send a handmade card every day for 17 days to a friend who had been feeling very lonely after the loss of her husband. She absolutely loved dogs and so each card contained a delightful picture of puppies in various playful poses. I purchased actual dog postage stamps for the envelopes and included brads in the shape of paws and stickers depicting bones. I included a short note of encouragement and an uplifting thought for each day. So even though the cards were funny and whimsical, they had a deeper message, one that my friend was in great need of at this time in her life.

I really enjoyed creating this series of cards. It was fun and child like, something we all need to experience more of. And best of all, when I am creating, I lose tract of time and experience the joy of being in the present moment, where I find true happiness.

I believe receiving these cards did wonders for helping this woman through her grief and it gave her something to look forward to each day.

I hope you enjoyed these card making ideas and that they will help you with your own wonderful new creations.  Happy Card Making!
